It's nearing the end of summer. Have you visited anywhere besides your favorite shops, home, the office and your friend's place?
If you haven't what are you waiting for???
Why not go? Money? Ideas? Passport or lack thereof?
Listen, there are many ways of traveling without proper funds or a passport. Domestic travel is the way to go. AND it doesn't cost you a ton of money to do so. Most times you can travel in your home town for free. Wait what....You didn't know? You better recognize!
I live in Atlanta and there are soooo many place I have yet to explore that are free. Now don't get me wrong I do a lot around the city for free, I'm just pointing out there is so much more that I could do. For one it has been over 20 years since I've been to the High Museum of Arts! I love that place, but I haven't taken the time to go. Now while the High isn't exactly free, if you have a Debit or Credit Card with Bank of America it is free for you the first full weekend of every month. You may say that's not traveling to you, but did you do that last summer? Have any of your friends done that yet? You don't have to have a stamp in your passport in order to have fun or feel cultured! Another place I haven't been is walking any of the belt line. That thing is free all day everyday. Now it is Atlanta, in Summer no doubt, so I won't be there until fall. (Don't judge me) But you can experience art and vendors not to mention other ATLiens doing the same thing. Let's not forget about the numerous parks ITP and OTP (ITP= inside the perimeter, OTP= outside the perimeter) Piedmont Part, Chastain Park, Centennial Park, Stone Mountain Park, Gresham Park, Memorial Park, and various other parks. Have a picnic, meet with friends, take your kids, dogs or whomever. Oh you don't want to do that huh...don't let me ever catch you in NY at Central Park throwing a frisbee that you are refusing to throw in Piedmont Park.
Did you know that you can go to SunTrust Park and watch an away Braves game on the lawn. Not the lawn of the playing field silly. There is a lawn between the stadium and the battery with a HUGE screen showing the away games. As far as taking a blanket or chairs out there with food, now that I don't know, but I plan on doing so as soon as the it cools off out here. Or more like as soon as it STOPS RAINING EVERYDAY!
My point is there is always some place new and different to explore. It doesn't have to cost you your mortgage, rent or life savings. It also doesn't mean you have to put miles on your car or take a plane or boat to get there.
Get out there and enjoy the rest of summer before it passes your by!
